HENSOLDT’s TAERVUS Delivers COMINT, ELINT, and Predictive Jamming Superiority

HENSOLDT has officially introduced TAERVUS, a fully integrated Electromagnetic Warfare (EW) system designed to meet the demands of modern battlefields. The system combines advanced radio direction finders, receivers, jammers, exciters, and sophisticated signal processing software with HENSOLDT’s Spectrum Battle Management Suite (SBMS). Having been tested and proven in operational environments for years, TAERVUS now emerges under a unified name that reflects its comprehensive identity.

The system is built to support both communications intelligence (COMINT) and electronic intelligence (ELINT), covering a wide range of frequencies from HF, VHF, and UHF to higher microwave bands. This broad spectrum capability allows operators to detect, intercept, and analyze enemy signals across multiple domains. TAERVUS also provides powerful jamming functions, enabling forces to disrupt hostile communications and radar systems, thereby denying adversaries the ability to coordinate or gather intelligence effectively.

The name TAERVUS itself carries symbolic meaning, derived from the Latin words Terra (earth) and Corvus (raven). This reflects its role as a land-based EW solution, with the raven chosen as a symbol of electromagnetic warfare. The imagery underscores the system’s identity as a sentinel of the electromagnetic spectrum, capable of striking silently yet decisively against enemy networks.

Technological innovation lies at the core of TAERVUS, which is designed as a modular, software-driven, and interconnected system. Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a central role in enhancing its operational effectiveness. AI algorithms enable advanced signal analysis, semi-automated classification, and prioritization of detected signals, ensuring that operators can focus on the most critical threats. The predictive jamming feature further elevates its capabilities, allowing the system to anticipate and counter hostile transmissions before they become a tactical advantage for the adversary.

Operational superiority is achieved through TAERVUS’s ability to accelerate the OODA loop—Observe, Orient, Decide, Act. By providing early and accurate information about enemy positions and activities, the system empowers commanders to make faster and more precise tactical decisions. This speed of action, combined with the ability to disrupt enemy intelligence gathering, creates a decisive edge in combat scenarios. As Dr. Torben Brack, Vice President and Head of Cyberspace & EW at HENSOLDT, emphasized, those who act faster while simultaneously denying the opponent’s ability to collect information will secure a critical advantage on the battlefield.

The system’s comprehensive integration provides forces with a decisive information advantage, which can prove vital in saving lives during combat. By combining detection, analysis, and jamming into a single unified solution, TAERVUS reduces the complexity of EW operations while maximizing their effectiveness. Its ability to deliver real-time situational awareness and deny adversaries the use of the electromagnetic spectrum makes it a cornerstone of modern military strategy.
