The TGS-Mil Protected is based on the TG-generation of military trucks and is available in both 6x6 and 8x8 configurations. It is designed to meet current NATO protection standards and incorporates a modular architecture that allows for customization across various mission profiles. This includes adjustable protection levels, integration of communication systems, and specialized payload options. The modularity also enables fleet harmonization by allowing both protected and unprotected variants to coexist within the same vehicle family, potentially reducing life-cycle costs for operators.
The vehicle is powered by a MAN D2676 six-cylinder diesel engine, capable of delivering up to 382 kW (520 hp) and 2,650 Nm of torque. It supports NATO F34 fuel and complies with Euro II, V, and VIe emission standards. The drivetrain and chassis are derived from civilian components, which may simplify maintenance and facilitate global serviceability. All-wheel drive enhances off-road performance, a feature emphasized during the Mobility Days demonstrations.
The TGS-Mil Protected is equipped with a protected cabin designed for two personnel. The cabin structure and vehicle layout are intended to support additional equipment such as weapon mounts, antennas, and batteries. Features like a reinforced roof, round hatch, and blackout lighting with infrared capability are included to support operational requirements. The vehicle also incorporates a Mission Mode that disables all actively transmitting functionalities, a measure aimed at reducing exposure to cyber threats.
The Vienna-Liesing production facility, where the TGS-Mil Protected is manufactured, has recently undergone upgrades to include a modern logistics system and digitized manufacturing processes. RMMV anticipates an annual production capacity of up to 4,000 HX and TG vehicles at this site, reflecting a response to increasing global demand for military logistics solutions.
The launch of the TGS-Mil Protected aligns with RMMV’s broader strategy to adapt its product offerings to evolving geopolitical conditions and mission requirements. By leveraging a modular design and civilian-based components, the company aims to offer scalable solutions that balance operational capability with long-term cost efficiency. The inclusion of remote-controlled and autonomous driving technologies in the Mobility Days presentations further indicates RMMV’s interest in integrating future mobility concepts into its vehicle platforms.
RMMV serves as the competence center for military and militarized logistics trucks within Rheinmetall’s Vehicle Systems Division. The joint venture, headquartered in Munich, draws on over a century of experience in manufacturing trucks for military applications. Its current focus includes expanding its product range to meet the logistical and tactical needs of modern armed forces, with an emphasis on modularity, interoperability, and technological adaptability.
